JAMES HAZAEL - PERSONAL BRANDING
The seed of my personal brand started with the need to create a consistent identity and the above logo, it all grew from there. I needed something that people use to identify me both online and in the real world. My logo is my main identifying mark. It combines the first letters of both my first and last names in an elegant and seamless way.
This gif shows some of my thought process and how I constructed my logo. I wanted have a logo that felt dynamic and alive but at the same time was still simple enough that it could be recognised at a glance.
To do this I italicised the letters, combined the two letters so that they overlap and had the j and the h break the edge of the circle so they appear as on one continuous stroke through the circle. I also gave the transition between the j and the h a shadow so as to make it clearer.
I had previously draw my own stylised self portrait, but felt that I couldn't use it in this branding project because it was too visually different from the style that I wanted.
So I created a new one to be used on my business cards which conformed to the colour scheme and visual style. I also made a similar one which I could use as my online avatar because the original didn't scale down very well. This one used simplified line work and thicker strokes so that it would read better at a smaller size.
